The Systematic Takahina

What are systems?

Systems, as defined by Wikipedia, is as follows:

System (from Latin systēma, in turn from Greek σύστημα systēma, "whole compounded of several parts or members, system", literary "composition"[1]) is a set of interacting or interdependent entities forming an integrated whole.

A set of interacting or interdependent entities forming an integrated whole; that's a bit too confusing isn't it?

To Takahina, systems, are simply, the sequences, how it works, how it should work, the decision making process in it. And it occurs in everyone's everyday life. Or to put easier understanding for those who have played FF12; Gambits.

It's kinda like saying, if my weight is above 80kg, exercise everyday.

Hence so:

Weight > 80kg,

This is the decision making process.

Weight > 80kg, Exercise

This is how it works.

Weight > 80kg, Jog on Monday
Skipping rope on Tuesday
Swim on Wednesday
Cycling on Thursday
Gym on Friday
Dance on Saturday
Statics on Sunday

This is how it should work.

1. Weight > 80kg, Jog on Monday
Skipping rope on Tuesday
Swim on Wednesday
Cycling on Thursday
Gym on Friday
Dance on Saturday
Statics on Sunday

2. Meeting Friends - After exercise.

This is the sequence.

This is just an example of how people can work out their everyday life. To be frank I think gambit system of FF12 is very very accurate on the "system" which I mentioned about. Any other 1-off events/occurrence, you can activate yourself.

Now to the whole point of systems, is it really necessary for systems to be installed in our lives?

Up till now, our lives have been controlled by systems. This system is created and formed out of our surroundings and environment. For example, our family systems, our religious systems, our government systems, our education systems etc etc. These systems influence the way in which we move along in life. Imagine if you're an African, and not a Singaporean.

Singaporean normal education system:

Primary School
Secondary School
Tertiary Schools (poly, JCs)/ Skills Education (ITE, LaSalle, SOTA, Sports School)
Higher Education (Uni, higher levels)

African Education system:

They may not even have one!

Singapore Religious System:

Buddhist favorites among the older population.
Christians favorites among the younger population.
Taoist, only remembered for their gods.
Islam, majority of malays.
Hindu, majority of indians
Free Thinkers/non-stoic religious Singapore, the true religion of Singapore.

African Religious System:

45% of the population are Muslims, 40% are Christians and less than 15% continue to follow traditional African religions. (Taken from Wikipedia)

Singapore Law System:

The British Law Constituency with a little changes of our own to suit our culture.

African Law System:

Anglo-Dutch Law System with a mix of Ma'at (Ancient Egyptian Law) as precedents.

Sure, you may say that you're your own, and you're not controlled by systems, but that is a lie. Your whole life, as you're reading this is already controlled by systems, and this is unavoidable because systems affect every part of our life. If you're an African, you may not be able to understand my definition of Systems itself! If so, why do we struggle to deny the fact that we live amongst systems? Systems should be utilised and shaped to suit your own system; creation of systems, special to yourself, should be the issue and essence.

Systems change constantly, from the ancient empires to the current government to the local society, and these changes are created from people themselves. People change the systems to better suit the current condition and surroundings.

China used to have a Central Economy System, but now they are very much open to Free Market ideas to suit and benefit their country due to the propagating effects of globalisation and international pressure. That is a positive change of systems.

Japan constantly changing their government and political systems due to media and citizen pressure, (imagine changing your "Lee Xian Long" every 4 months, Singapore konfirm havoc), that is a negative change of systems.

Not just for major systems, but minor and mandune systems like me deciding from convert 50% of my surplus income to spending ALL surplus income on games, such changes are negative and effect YOUR everyday life. After all, it doesn't matter much whether we can effect the major systems, its your own system that matters, because in the end, you create your own system of life which is unique to your own. You can make out a system like:

1. Total Personal Income per Month < $500, Work

- Meaning if I have lesser than $500 per month income, I work.

2. Total Personal Income - Expenditure per Month > $0, Invest in Bonds.

- Meaning if I have any leftover money after spending, invest the rest in Bonds.

The thing is that it's unless whatever you can make out, and it need not be written out as if its your "law" in life. Systems are simple, and should flow easily, and can be uncomplicated.

1. Ask Girl A out. Go to step 2.
2. After asking Girl A out for a few times, confess. Go to step 3.
3. After successful confession and date for 3 years. Propose.

Of course the above example isn't good at all, but it's just an example of what systems you can employ.

However, not everything will flow along smoothly in the systems. There will be obstacles and problems coming out from all sorts of life, thus from there changes have to be made, and these changes has to be positive ones.

Take my company TNT Freight Services for example (I don't know if I'll get fired for writing this). Recently the system that we used to input data changed, to a supposedly more hi-tech and advanced. Systems upgrade, we hope it'll be good. But no, after a 2 weeks of using it, there were little good comments about it, and the whole department efficiency has dropped, due to the systems being laggy, overly detailed and buggy at times. Errors increased, Staff can't check data entered cause there was no time at all due to efficiency dropping, staff have to go home later, people quit due to fatigue and no-life. I can almost certify that the new system is killing the whole data entry department.

Firstly, there was no reasons given or explained to us whatsoever on why we had to have a change in systems. Secondly, the new systems has more cons than pros, you think staff will be happy? You think the company will gain from this new system? No you won't. This is a very negative change of systems, that has no explanation whatsoever.

I could say that Japan's PM keep changing, cause the media attacks the government too fiercely, so there's the reason for that change, media. But TNT didn't, or they didn't tell anyone about it, either they felt there was no need for it, or simply we part-timers are not worthy enough, I have no idea. So like what some famous guy had said and quoted:

"If it's not spoilt, don't fix it."

If there were changes needed to the systems, make sure the new system is either an on par system, if not an even better one to replace the old systems, if not systems will only hinder the path to your goal.

Goals?

What does systems gotta do with goals?

Systems are created for that 1 aim, to make things flow and eventually achieve something. I can say that goals are the "why", objectives are the "what", and systems are the "how".

If objectives and goals aren't achieved with your current system, you have gotta change your systems, so that goals and objectives can be achieved.

Example, something which almost every guy in Singapore hates, NS.

NS's goal: To deter enemies.
NS's objective: To have more people join the force to increase NS's strength
NS's system:

1. Increase pay accordingly until 70% of positions are filled

2. Make it easier for people to increase in rank until 85% of positions are filled.

3. Advertise NS on media until 90% of positions are filled.

If still no one is joining NS for some reason, they have gotta go into deeper means, maybe increase pay even more? Advertise even more to even schools and institutions? Ways as such.

The thing is that systems take time to show effect, so people may think that a new system sucks, so they change it time and time again. The Japan PM is once again another very good example, of how the people are not giving the new government system time to settle in and carry on their objectives and goals. My exercise system will need time to show it's effect too, at least I'm maintaining my weight now... I hope :/

Then again, you may say that there is no need for systems, the "how", could be done via "free will", as in you do whatever you wanna do, at whatever time you wanna do it, in a total random manner. Naturally it's up to the person himself to choose however he wanna do it, but the lack of a system will only create an untidy and undisciplined situation that hinders the path to your goal.

You play fighting games like Street Fighter, ever wondered why some computers are so damn good, and at the same time, wondered why top human players are definitely better than the computer?

Computer AI is made up of systems which dictate how they move, attack, and counter. So in a sense computer is almost a series of standard systems that counter your every move.

Then how do human players defeat such systems? They just create a more effective system.

Look at how Daigo plays, he plays via pressuring, and mind-gaming the opponent into making mistake, and then attacking back with a combo. Retreat, and repeat the whole process again. Naturally every player has their own play style, but these play styles, inevitably are systems of how they react to opponents. Computers are unable to change the system, so top players will always win the computers AI, since they already have a more efficient system in place that counters computers.

Hence, you can move on without a system to achieve whatever you want to achieve, but it takes longer time, more luck, more capital involved etc etc.

In the end, it's not about defeating the system, it's about modifying the system to achieve what you want and need. To achieve your goals and objectives, the system HAS TO BE THERE. Taking out systems, will only lead to nowhere, with the "why" and "what" there, but no "how".

If you hate the "reality" system, just bend it to however you want it to flow. That's all.

The Reservice Takahina

Ok, they just can't pick a better date for reservice.

Monday, 12th July, 7.30am.

If they could be just a little bit more considerate and push it to maybe 1 week later? Or even just 1 day later would suffice. Why?

The freaking world cup finals is on Monday 2.30am.

Heh.

I have nothing against reservice, seriously nothing. I mean it's like 1am now, 2.30am soccer match later, and my camp is at the most ulu part of SG, Sungei Gedong camp. So essentially I will only have like 1 hr of sleep... unless I wanna give up watching the world cup finals.

(Well... maybe? Watch Spain win and have Singapore's David Villa boast around isn't very nice...)

Of course, I support Netherlands with Ben together. :) I don't hate Spain, but as usual the kuai lan Takahina just don't like to follow crowds' decision :P

Anyways, it's just a week of missing lessons... not too big a deal... And there's supposedly a test on the 2nd lesson of this topic after this week's lesson end... Not a problem...

>_>

Next thing, my hair.

I had actually quite a few plans for my hair after it grew of acceptable length. Then I heard that ICT is coming, so there was no USE at all for cutting hair to the design which I had desired, so I just let it grew to the week before ICT then cut it...

And voila...

Photobucket

Witness the horrid of The Long Hair Takahina.

It's said that his hair was at one point, longer than a few of my female colleagues and my mum.

So, I cut it now...

Photobucket

Look at my painful expression. I had to use a mic to express my discomfort.

Anyways, some say my hair is still too long and WILL be cut off eventually in camp. Whatever man whatever.

So, ICT it'll be, and I heard it's a very big battalion this time, and once again my unit (ever since the tekong days) will be the experimentation unit for armor stuff. What, they're gonna install wireless lan into tanks?

So inside armor vehicles, people will be dotaing and L4Ding with the wireless lan?

Photobucket

Welcome to my lanshop. :)

KK, see you guys in a week, and I shall sleep.

Call me and you'll pay overseas fees, thanks to Sungei Gedong camp being located nearer to Malaysia than SG.

Huat ar.

The Printing Takahina

I'm writing right here right now, because I'm printing like 74 pages worth of lecture notes from my computer. And I seriously doubt my ink is able to last through it all. Takahina has printed tons of shit in the past before, but 74 pages is like the biggest challenge ever.

The 2nd printing challenge was a 65 page Suikoden 2 Guide from GameFAQs when I was a full class Otaku/Gamer. At that point of time, I was still a very fat Takahina in sec 2. Oily, fat, and full of shit.

In the previous Sems, Lecture notes never need to reach up to even 20 pages. A modest 10 pages was normally enough to clear a whole topic of let's say... Insurance. Now it's kinda revolutionary to have 74 pages. That's like 1 year worth of my Japanese notes in jargon english.

Not that it's bad though, I've seen the notes and it's very in-depth. In detail... in fact to the fact it's almost straight out from the textbook!! (Cher... you sure you didn't just... copy from the TB did you?)

Being in depth is good, having more information is good. No doubt it makes it more dry, but still it's in depth. Some of the relevant points are in point forms, which is kinda the way... Takahina would like to study. After all, I don't like to study straight from Power Points, Powerpoints are meant to be used for presentation, not study. (Get it you poly students/JC students!?!? No more faggot style of studying...)

But then again, now comes the next question...

Why do we go to school then since the notes are so in depth? I would like to suggest though, this is outrightly spoonfeeding to students, and you lecturers just stand there and tell us which point is more important, get it in and make an effort to like write something down.

For powerpoint lecture notes, we go to school with a blur head, cause power points NEVER FREAKING MAKE SENSE. NEVER.

I mean, never in your life, would squarish boxes with just a few words scribbled inside makes sense. If the powerpoint boxes have like paragraphs in it for the wrong reason, it's not powerpoint. It's a summarised blogpost.

The thing about powerpoint which people seemingly gets a wrong idea, is that it should have never been allowed for printing. It's supposed to aid in presentation, that's all. 1 slide, should have been just like:

Slide 1: "Hello"

Slide 2: "Point 1"

Slide 3: "I don't make sense by myself, so stop looking at me and try to make sense outta me, listen to the lecturer you numbskull."

~~~
I'm sad to say, but I print powerpoint notes, and probably will still do, because there's no better way to get things down.
One sad thing of powerpoints is that, it puts points across nicely without details, (if not called powerPOINTS for fuck?), but the one presenting it, must know his shit to explain these details.
If I must say, the previous sem's lecture of MCS (Manage Client Services A.K.A Make Clients Sexcited) notes were pretty well done. The points itself doesn't make sense, so sitting down and listening to the lecturer will matter. And lines are beside the boxes in the notes given for you to write shit down. (Although in the end I just draw swords in them)
The best thing is, the notes are FREE. As quoted from Ms Agnes Ho,
"Free stuff always taste the best."
And so they do.
The thing that lecturers should take note and POINTS from Takahina.
1. Know your shit, and know how to present. Don't freaking bore your students. Act like a clown if you have to.
2. Don't spoonfeed your students with your given notes, it should miss details here and there to punish the unwise and sufferables that doesn't listen to you.
3. Always listen to Takahina.
Anyways, printing's done. I love Canon Printers they are damn fast, and you may say I'm wasting paper printing 74 pages. But the papers are stolen from my unit when I ord. Before I ord I told my sir,
"Sir, our printing paper not enough I go indent more ar."
Sir, "Ok ok... go do it. Wah not bad ah quite initiative."
Me, "Of course sir. ;) Gonna ORD soon le ma, should do something."
What Sir doesn't know is that I had already brought home few boxes of printing paper, thats why paper no enough.
Who says NS is ALWAYS bad. There have their good times. :p
The Timid Takahina or the Indifferent Takahina
I went to work today on my bicycle.
You know that route, from my house, all the way down the road towards Simei ITE road, the whole stretch. Along the way, there are a few danger spots which I know.
1, the Simei entrance to PIE, and another, naturally, the Tampines Exit from PIE.
At approximately 11.15pm, I almost got into an accident on the way back, on the hotspot of Tampines Exit from PIE.
On my bicycle, I looked out to the curved road, no cars, so ok I went on. Partly I'm a little arrogant in the sense I didn't like observe the road, I just glance, no lights whatsoever, and moved on.
And just nice, a scooter just zooming into the exit, and we're damn close to hitting each other had I pedal a second slower.
Both of us left unharmed. And well, I was pissed. At the same time he was pissed.
As I finished crossing the exit, I was so very sure it's his fault. But as usual, the opposition is so very sure it's my fault. My fault for not paying more attention to the road, his fault for driving so fast into the exit. As a driver I myself drove in that exit frequently, and I'm pretty sure that there is a warning and a speed limit at that exit. 50km Speed limit, makes you able to stop in time had you seen a pedestrian cross that road.
Take it this way, had I not been on a bicycle, instead, I'm on foot.
I would have been dead. Imagine this...
Takahina, dead. The Woon Han you know, died. Before anything he knew or imagined is achieved.
The fucker driving was driving at quite a speed from what I see.
So afterwards, we both stopped. He stopped at a road in front, very obviously signalling me to stop.
I was thinking, "For what?"
I was looking pissed naturally, and well, I have no idea why he's so pissed.
So I went up to him, fucker who's a standard 30+ guy borned from a freaking normal Singaporean background of idiot who plays Mahjong every week at least once or close to that and watches football every night ... (Wait, isn't that me?)
He confronted me, saying shit like, "What?! EH you wanna die issit? Don't see the road one ar! What is that face ar?! Angry issit? What you want ah? What must you do now ar?!"
In otherwords, Kao Pei Kao Bu to da maxxxxxx..
At this point of time I had 2 choices, 1, either to just apologize to him (God knows for what reason), or I confront him back with my reasoning. Cause from whatever shit knowledge I know about, it's not the first time I crossed that road and cars appearing after I crossed the road. However!!! It's the first time a car managed to zroom past so fast while I'M on the road. They normally stop before the zebra crossing.
I mean, what's the use of a zebra crossing, if I look, saw no cars, and crossed, but still kena knocked? So zebra crossings came about, because a car knocked a zebra down and it's pattern got imprinted onto the road?
So if I kena knocked down like that, it's called Woon Han Crossing?
So I look at him, with a pissed face, saying...
"Sorry. Ok?"
He continued, "Wah, not happy ar?! What you want?"
I followed up, "Ok, I apologized, I'm sorry. What more do you want?" After that, he drove off. I carried on my way back home.
Then it was here I figured...
"Why did I apologized to him? Sure I'm at fault for not being cautious enough. But isn't he at fault too for driving too fast?"
Why did I apologize to him? 1 thing I thought.
How timid can I be, to the extent I can't stand up and challenge my point to him. I don't expect an apology from him for almost hitting me, so why must he expect an apology from me for almost letting him hit me, and get away with it!?
Somehow, I bui lun. He can lecture me a bit, but not scold me.
Then I thought again, it may not be that I'm timid, just that I'm past caring to such apologizing, and stuff. I mean, so what if I apologized? So what if I didn't apologize? The insurance company can pursue the matter, and determine from the road marks of his bikes and how fast he was traveling, I'm pretty sure I can win the case, or at least make a settlement out of court.
So I'm indifferent.
Sometimes I can't figure out things. In which timidness and indifference tends to act in hands with each other. There have been apologies which I made that aren't true hearted. There have been apologies which I didn't dare to make, but still haunts me to this day. There have been issues when I just didn't care and went away.
I guess you can say I'm somewhat a bit of an "Atas" person, or at least that's how I like to think of myself. Like any average Singaporean guy in the past, the point is the lesser things you get yourself into, the better. So timid or indifference is a good thing. But now, not really. Somehow the culture has changed to a fact that people like to stand up for themselves with their own points and views, and aren't afraid to let it EXPLODE out.
Take the fucker driver that almost made the True Takahina a Dead Takahina, if I'm the driver I would have just drove off or lecture. But not scold.
So somehow, if anyone likes to overall explain to much of their point to the extent that its absurd, I will care less about them. In otherwords,
"Fuck off you pantyhose. I can't be bothered to listen to your shit man. Watching Vasamtham channel is better than watching you."
And in my mind, that very "high high up there Barbie" feel will appear.
Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't listen to people, but I don't listen to threats, I don't listen to stupid opinions, points which can't convince me, although I do listen but it gets lost somewhere in the end.
I love listening to people's opinions, I listen to ideas, I listen to your whines and stuff. But, if it's shit regarding hokkien vocabulary towards me, I will be that Atas shit.
But the problem is not with me listening to you or not, the problem is why can't I get myself to express my own points when the opposition gets overly powerful?
Timidity, is a bad bad characteristic of mine. Or simply, indifference is just a characteristic which is negative in the current society, rather than it being neutral.
The Late Hours Takahina
Working in Singapore, sucks.
Why? Because unlike most rich people at the top, the middle and lower class people like us have to slog everyday, every night.
It's an endless circle.
This slogging doesn't occur only to low class, it happens to young people like you and I, young couples, just married, old couples, parents. ETC.
Who says Singapore doesn't have differentiation of class? We have, we have our own caste system that few knows about.
The Super High Tier, people who literally slack and like the lower down people work while their money and ideas work for them. Time for family is aplenty. You see the ginnas with Bentleys driving around at the age of 21? Either they're genius, or they have a rich pa. Their kids have manners, because their parents are there to guide and teach them manners. Normally very well-liked and envied. However when they grow up it's a different thing.
The Normal High Tier, people who literally work their heads off and control a whole bunch of middle and lower tier people at their work. Generally managers, but you don't own the company. You're a manager being managed to managed the people who needs to be managed. Time for family, none. You're too busy. Kids don't drive Bentleys, they drive Toyotas, Hyundais, Mitsubishi. Kids normally snobbish and arrogant, due to them having nothing, but money. However when they grow up it's a different thing.
The Normal Middle Tier, people who work their ass off, only control maybe a bunch of people under you and have tons of bosses above you. For the company you work like an ant. You have friends and relatives alike who go to pubs to drink your ass off. Time for family, some. Unlike those at top, you only need to mind your own business, so you have time. Kids, don't drive until they reach adulthood. Normally normal, and general, and generic. Always striving to earn money, getting laid and making networks and friends. However when they grow up it's a different thing.
The Lower Tier, people who work their guts out, always gets controlled by almost everyone above you. For the company you work like a bee, but somehow you always find the time to slack, and get scolded, but you don't really care. You have friends and relatives who go to kopitiams to eat your guts off and dig your nose everywhere. Unlike those above you, you don't need to even mind your business, others will take care of it for you. Time for family, none. Because your work hours of doing low responsibility work is normally damn long. However you always find time to call home and see what dishes are being prepared for dinner. Kids, drive Daytona and Initial D. Sometimes motorbikes. Normally very beng or lians and loiter around lanshops until the wee-hours of the night. Relationships are weirdly... committed. And full of crap. However when they grow up it's a different thing.
Corporations are killing us off, with long hours of work. This could be easily shared by employing more workers, but somehow, the company doesn't want to cause it saves cost. Well it saves cost, and creates more divorces, arguments, quarrels, and creates less productivity due to the "personal effects" it forms on it's employees. The Super High Tiers won't really know of such effects, because High Tiers are pushing the middle and lower tiers, while Super High Tiers just play golf.
And logically so, why? Because just like economics, Super High Tiers just want profits. They won't mind employing less workers despite increasing work load, cause it's cheaper that way. Also how you handle your family is your business, not mine, why in the blue hell would a shareholder of a company even bother about a middle tier-ed family's problem. They will just say,
"Yo, High Tier-ed Manager, go and settle this employee's problem. After settle le, we go drink."
It's dumb actually. I'm not blaming corporations for saving money, I'm blaming the government for not putting some sort of limit to this. Let's take South Korea for example, to counter falling birth rates, they are imposing a guideline to have the worker go home by this certain timing for their family and personal life.
Something which I think, is very efficient. If the worker wants to work extra, it's up to him to lose his own family, he can blame no one then.
The tradeoff between work, and personal life, is very delicate. Neither of it can be neglected, the balance must exist. This is something, which the government, or seemingly, Singapore itself, don't seem to understand. Singaporeans are borned workaholics, and the sense of "working for money and life" is infringed into us by our parents and the whole society. So corporations LOVE Singaporeans, why? Cause we're so hardworking.
Sure, society, family, government emphasis balance in life, but our action speaks otherwise.
Takahina likes working, because it gives him $, and he learns skills/information needed. But at the same time, he dislikes working for too long, because it deplores him of the freedom he needs. People who know me well enough, will know that freedom has and always will be one of the factors which I hold supremely precious in life. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate my job. I like its timing of 6pm-12mn. But ask me to work this for life even if the pay is good, I doubt I'll continue for that long.
We're hardworking... to the sense we're deplorable.
And at times like this, if the middle and low tier-ed employees don't help out together so they can all go home together in time, you can wait and be prepared to get ostracized among your own.
So, best thing is what? Invest. Use the money that you worked so hard for to work for you.....
(Bah, I'm not gonna go into investor/financial mode)
Once you have money, you won't feel the need to be so hardworking, you can slowly slack off... and go home watch World Cup, or have a baby with your wife I don't give a shit.
But then again, how many people can get rid of this life of working.
After all, Singaporeans love working. Hard.
The Jamming Takahina
No pictures today. Bet you guys have enough of Takahina flaunting his own dashing looks. Lucky people...
Anyways, Takahina has been in bands, bands that does originals, bands that does covers, even an instrumental band. To be frank, other than Child's Play, most other bands I've been with don't seen to have any possibilities of playing again, be it's because it's just me, or simply we don't keep in contact anymore. Not that Child's Play is the best band I've played with, it's just the feel and chemistry we have with each other, it makes it unforgettable.
I've played in a band whether I've done nothing at all, waiting for the keyboardist to forget out things to play. And what was the songlist? My Immortal from Evanescenes. So I, the drummer kinda just sat there, waiting for everything to proceed properly, before I can play like 16 bars of my stuff at the end of the song.
Anyways, here's the song if you wanna know what I'm talking about.
That band hasn't contact me anymore. The bassist Alex is quite good, and I played with him again in another band, kinda a faithful coincidence actually.
Also, right now I'm with another band, a chinese band which included another bassist that I've played with before in ANOTHER band. I don't know what's gonna happen to this band in the future, so I'll just sit and wait and open my eyes.
But anyways, what I wanna talk about in this topic is ALL BEYOND THAT.
No names to be stated, but recently I've heard about a few things about this certain guy who seems to "manipulate" young budding musicians, into bands and stuff, with promises of this and that and his vision of the band.
I've played with him before, he didn't really call me up after like 3 sessions. Don't know is it because of my skills or my character. I have a feeling it's both. My skill is too good for him, and my character is too sharp for him.
(ok la, I'm too boastful here, even at Takahinian level).
Anyways, not trying to be critical, but I've heard of some ridiculous things he has done.
1.
Some band fund policy thingy which he had. Like wanting band members to contribute money to the band fund and using it to buy stuff for the band like digital cameras etc etc, useful stuff for stage performance, demo recording and such.
He had several things up to it, like needing a 3 month contract with the band, if not no $$ back.
Whoa, so you mean to say the band is a contract now... why you got them to sign anything? Are they like protected by the band protection union?? Well workers... even freaking bangala foreign workers have them. You want me to apply NTUC protection for you? So they have like
"Band members insurance against defective band leaders."
Why for all I know, you could just take the $$ and run off. Hah, if so then I'll be "band leader" a long time ago, and many people in the scene would hate me with such anger that even Satan would be worried of containing.
2.
Promises which sound fantastic and compels with your dream, but are often ridiculous after some logical thinking and time.
You know contacts in Japan, you promise this bunch of young musicians you found on some local music website and tell them dreams of the band. Going to Japan to perform, going for gigs, doing originals.
But seriously, if you gather a bunch of beginners, will you be willing to let them go overseas if their standard still isn't on par after like a year or 2 of band practices? Even Takahina doesn't have the confident to go overseas to perform, maybe Benji has, maybe Huimin has, I know Edwin definitely have, but nah, I don't. And I analyze players that I play with, I find it almost IMPOSSIBLE to nurture them up in a year. It takes time, like long term investments, bonds, share dividends, derivatives.
Next, you don't show people your contacts, you don't let your band members know exactly what is going on, you think they'll still trust you? Your status as a band leader will drop to a fucking common thug.
..........................................................................
Look, the thing about band funds, not that it's bad, I have been in bands that handle band funds, EvE for example. But that the way you're putting it up with all the rules and stuff on a freaking forum named after you (Why, you're very big ar? Immortal Lee also don't have his own forum, only his fanpage forum ruled by a bunch of Leenatics) , is a little too overwhelming. Firstly, you're not a fucking company, you're just a fucking person with contacts to Japan, and god knows (The song I jammed with him is God Knows by Aya Hirano btw) where in Japan. For all I know you could be just waiting to sell some innocent girls to Japan's porn industry and earn commission from it. And yes they'll be making music alright, "music" that makes guys have boners.
I could be writing a bit too aggressively, but to make my point through I have to be ridiculous. Being so overwhelming could harm both ways. Firstly you lose band members, people who trust in you, will feel cheated. They will feel as if you're out there to own their money. Even if you have the heart to nurture them, this is not the way.
So my advice to young musicians, on an unofficial Takahina's guide to music is as such:
Please take note, I go the Takahina way.
How Takahina progressed in his ways of drumming, to a current status whereby he's prolly intermediate at most at 22 years old.
I have been involves with bands, not a lot, but I learn from each band, in that I learn how to deal with politics, how to see things properly, how to see whether a band is promising or not.
.....................................................................
Advice number 1: Dream big is fine, but make it realistic.
Seriously, there are so many bands which I've been in, wanting to achieve this, achieve that. Currently the closest one I've seen and about to make it is Elyzia, with their appearnace in Audition, their persistent diligence in the local music scene. They have performed in many gigs and many locations even overseas. Countdown parties, Christmas party etc etc. To be frank, I was once skeptical, but now I think they could actually achieve their aim, which I believe is to make a mark in the local music scene.
How many bands I have been in, saying that want to go to Japan (mostly the Jrock bands actually), how many bands have I been in, saying that they want to gig this and that. Well not that you can't do it, 1 word direct, your standard isn't there yet. Not to fret though.
Takahina believes in a simple logic. 欲速则不达。 More haste less speed.
To achieve dreams, you need hardwork and time. Seriously it's much more difficult than just creating a guitar rift, and saying you have created an original, no. It's a band's effort, to increasing everyone's chemistry, everyone's skill level, everyone's commitment into the band. It could take from 1 year up to even your whole lifetime to achieve it. There's no use in setting irrational goals, like to create an album within a year, or to cover and gig in any gigs which you can grab. No.
To do all those, you need standard, you need time to propel the band through. 1 standard route I will use, is to constantly search for band members whereby everyone is comfortable with each other, everyone is happy with each other, everyone has the same attitude of willingness to learn, and willingness to commit. It could take a whole lifetime to search them out (and yes, probably you're dead before you can achieve your dream). To me, skill level doesn't matter, I can be damn shitty while you're as pro as god who can play 1000000 chords and keys in a bpm. Who cares.
Eventually, as long as you have the attitude, you can reach godly status.
You go for selected gigs, do selected objectives, like...
"Objectives: To jam in St fest 2010." Etc.
But your goal...
"Goal: To be able to perform in your own personal concert with at least 500 fans, in front of your family and friends."
Slowly have objectives, which will lead up to your goal. And as you set out to achieve objectives, you level up. Seriously it's like play a RPG. As you progress along you level up. Unless you tio curse la, but seriously God Save The Queen.
................................................................
Advice number 2: Never stop learning.
This is something which Takahina is guilty of. In the past I refuse to do double bass, but now I'm starting to get the hang of it, Grottesca somehow helped me handle it.
So you see? I'm learning.
The fact is that in a band, in EVERY band you're in, you learn something. I learnt how to make originals in EvE, double bass ABC in Grottesca, my initial gig experience with Le Foret, my stint as a band leader in Child's Play, recapturing drumming basics when teaching Patricia and Karen and my uncle, even playing Drummania teaches me the many unique grooves and fills. It continues on.
You can also continue learning more, from teachers, seniors etc etc. Don't let things like NS cut you down, NS provides more free time than you think actually.
After finishing my driving lessons, I'll resume my drum lessons from Jimmy. I won't stop learning it, and no way I could ever stop. You think Steve Gadd, one of the world's best drummer and my grand-teacher (he taught Jimmy Lee) would have nothing to learn anymore, but no, he's still continuously producing new talents, producing new stuff on the drums which awe.
So whatever musicians out there, just a shout out to you, don't stop learning.
....................................................................
Advice number 3: Attitude. Raw is War.
If you have a rockstar attitude, I suggest you stop your music career right now and go be a summon auntie. At least you can rockstar them when you give them summon.
Good attitude attracts good talents, good attitudes enhances your speed in learning, good attitude makes a band more conducive and cohesive. Seriously nothing will go wrong with good attitude. If you are a miser, unwilling to share, unwilling to commit, always late, giving lame reasons to not jam, playing around during jamming and not being serious ALL THE TIME (occasional happiness in the band is fine, but if it's constant you're worse than Joker). I suggest you just stop music. It's not for you.
..........................................................................
Advice number 4: Band leaders.
They are important people. They direct the band's route, and sets the goals and objectives for the band. Normally how good a band leader is, dictates the route of the band into heaven or hell.
So if a band leader is unclear about what he wants from the band, unable to control the band, always playing around, losing confidence from his band mates, you need to do some self reflection.
Listen, and don't be overly selfish, the band is not made of you, you're not the fucking Hitler of the band.
And please be realistic. If the band sucks, it sucks. Don't force the band to perform. Seriously.
.....................................................................
Ok enough.
Anyways, hope musicians/band leaders/bands alike that do manage to read this, know what I feel about the whole situation.
... Even though I feel the situation won't change 1 freaking bit. >_>
And to that guy who didn't wanna use me after like 3 jam sessions, I gathered a bit of info, and from what I know, your current band is like... erm, I don't know what to say. Members keep changing, you get young... as in REAL YOUNG INEXPERIENCED PEOPLE to play with you, and you prompt the drummer to play fast play fast play fast, while in the meantime you awe him with your "metal" guitar skills... (Drummers take note, it's the timing and groove that is important, not to wank of the drums. You don't wank with drums, you wank with your dick.)
Heh heh heh.
Give any of my Gengers (Rurounis) a week on the guitar and he can play better than you I swear.
The Social Problem Analysing Takahina
Miss me?... Doubt it.
Anyways, lately from some news, I heard that the life-old problem on birth rate of Singapore is out again. Exactly how many times has it been?
The PAP has been scratching their head over this problem. Money? Well there's the baby bonus, they give more maternity leave, but no paternity leave, they had tons of solutions out to counter this. One of the TOO EFFECTIVE ONE, is the opening and loosening of laws allowing foreign workers into Singapore and becoming PR in the end. Conclusively, that formed another phenomenon that Singapore has a new natural resource, China citizens here to work.
Photobucket
They flew to Singapore, believe me.
To the extent now, 1 racist joke I heard,
"On a ship there's 4 people of different races, namely USA, Iraq, China, Singapore. The ship suddenly started to sink cause too heavy, so they decide to throw stuff which they had extra.
USA threw his cash,
Iraq threw his barrels of oil,
China threw all the cheap merchandise he have.
The Singaporean seeing the situation, also threw something. He went to the China citizen...
And threw him away."
But then again, this post is not about the overcrowding influx nature of foreign workers in Singapore, it is about birth rates. You wanna throw away more China citizens? Increase birth rate then.
But seriously... what's so wrong about China people? Well don't talk about those which work in Geylang and "enhance" our Singaporean culture, China citizens, think it through properly, is fine. In fact some Singaporean Aunties are worse
Photobucket
From left, Malaysian Auntie, China Auntie, Singapore Auntie.
Not forgetting...
Photobucket
The Singapore Unker.
So stop complaining about Chinese people Singaporeans. We already have worse. You wanna solve the problem, you have gotta up the birth rate.
Then again, why doesn't our birth rate increase? What are the problems? The key word, is "problemS", not "problem".
If you ask Takahina, this birth rate problems is caused from various factors, which affects equally in the creation of life. And these factors, come from various parts of society environment, and the way of life. So similarly, everyone have different views, which I find, are rather valid. Comments from people such as:
Elites like all the ah sia gia's with their Bentleys driving around like no one's business, and having 5 digit monthly salary knows 1 point of the factor.
Middle class people like yours truly,
The lower class/poorer/lower educated people.
The Chairlady of AWARE, Mdm Lim has stated a point which I found very true, although I do find her usage of words a little... erm, inappropriate.
The actual title of Mdm Lim's reply is "Improve gender equality and you will raise fertility."
Her points are correct, but usage of words could be hurtful to the 'prideful' guys in Singapore.
Firstly, you don't improve gender equality. Because on that note, Singapore is on quite a good level as compared to that of Japan, Korea etc. Singapore's woman stand a very good chance to fight and compete in the local industries and to be fair, I don't really hear so-called MCP mannerisms much in the Singapore society. The newer general public are very equal to the rights and capabilities of the females. We recognize their worth, we recognize their efforts. At least I do sincerely.
The point of Mdm Lim, is that in the local society, the parenting role always falls onto the hands of the female/mother. Hence this situations makes it more stressful for females to give birth. Because they'll need to worry about both work and the kid, while the father just have to bring the bread home.
Valid indeed. The fact is true that father's do throw more responsibility onto the mother's side. You often see in those Taiwan Hokkien drama...
Photobucket
Huh? Now you bui song ar? The kid you always part of it ok nabei. Wah? Diao Simi Diao? Not my fault our son enter PAP right?
So to say, to counter such things, we'll need to improve on either...
1) The husband takes more care of the kid.
2) The wife don't work.
Among the 2 solutions, the 2nd one sounds almost illogical or inhumane even. So yes, I do think the husband needs to take more responsibility, and stop throwing everything to the wife. Taking care of the kids, bringing them out, understanding the kids problem... bring kids to geylang, teach them how to ogle at girls... etc etc...
However, why is it that in Singapore, it sounds inhumane to don't let the wife work? Here comes the 2nd factor in Singapore. Money.
Lee Kwan Yew Pictures, Images and Photos
Half of Singapore's money is his and his family's legacy. :p
A normal family in Singapore, like yours and mine (L33Ts won't read my blog ;D ), CAN NEVER SURVIVE without extra income. Especially to support your kids' education etc etc. Not everyone is financially savvy, not everyone is like Takahina :D, therefore if only the husband works, the family will starve to death.
Singapore's inflation during the years has grown overly fast, in fact too fast to the extend before the wealth can be equally distributed to the lower class families, inflation has gone to the extent even monks need extra funds to take care of their horses.
Photobucket
imma get some horse with ma pimp :D
True Singapore is rich. But their people aren't, we are all coping with the inflation level. I mean my parents ate Fried Kway Teow for 50c in their 20s. I eat Fried Kway Teow for $3 in my 20s. Extra Hump 50c. And they add 1 extra nia. HML.
HUAT MY LIFE.
So to say, in a span of 40years, our income should have increased by around 6x. But nope, at most jump by 3-4 times. And that's for usual middle class people, thus even though inflation over eats our income... we still die die can survive, but having more people in the family I'll have to escape to JB for my wedding where Seafood which would cost $100+ in Singapore cost $30 overall. Rich people can eat $12 Chick Rice for no prob since their income would have jumped together with Singapore's economy, like the increasing number of people jumping Singapore's MRT tracks.
What about the lower class? Even worse. Despite the many rebates and cuts given to the lower class/poorer class people, they still suffer from much poverty. Someone I know who got married, her stepmother extorted $8000 from the guy to allow marriage. You only hear such stories from ancient china tales. Selling daughters, seriously are only the thing of the past, or current India :x
My belief is that the rebates are not long term at all, and helps no one in the end. I rather you provide free education for these poor souls, or simply let them strike 4D/Toto to Huat their life.
So to say, that's why whatsoever Baby Bonus, are Bogus. It won't attract. Parents will still have to work, wifes will still be old and haggard by the end of the day, and for the new generation, such things DEFINITELY don't attract at all.
Then what about the people with more financial power? They surely don't have to work right? That's where you're wrong.
Here comes the 3rd factor.
The nature of Singapore's woman.
Singapore's woman are a very independent bunch, filled with their own thinking and lifestyle. Plus with the strong education they get, they get even more strongwilled and confident, which is quite positive if you ask me.
Asking them to be a resident housewife... is NO WAY. Mahjong aunty even more impossible.... maybe except for Huiming la.
Photobucket
"Huh?" Kun-bin of Huiming which is epik win
Photobucket
And Huiling who didn't dare to play MJ with me anymore after my emo-spate of losing to her 13 wonders. ZOMG. I still regret that day I emo. Fuck.
Sure, not all woman are workaholics. But asking them to just stay at home, just isn't their cup of tea. Having a child will further solidify that aspect of life. And soon enough they will start loving dogs more than man.
Doggy Nose Pictures, Images and Photos
"imma steal your gf."
Well, it's the same case for guys. We don't wanna to get a kid, cause it'll tie us down. I wanna "ai-shiteiru" my wife, and freaking baby cries. Imma kill that kid. And you won't wanna love-shiteiru your wife in front of your baby/kid, lest he'll get into action when he's in primary school.
Commitment people commitment issues.
I won't commend on the issues of guy and girls attraction power. Cause the trend of love jumps around and is more volatile than the Europe Currency right now. Guys can love fat chicks, girls can adore pigs. Marriages still go on, it's the baby issue which matters.
I mean, weird things like...
Photobucket
How this guy is still single despite his brilliant/marvelous/attractive conditions, remains one of the greatest mysteries.
4th factor.
A very straightforward one.
You go to the streets of Singapore, the everyday life. What do you see? Ah Bengs and Ah Lians. You will think to yourself. I don't want my future kid to be like this.
wo shi ah beng Pictures, Images and Photos
I'm your son. Nao give me manaaayyy....
The thing is that Singapore kids have never strike a good image with most of the newer generation. They are loud, irritating, persistent and hard to maintain. You take your eyes off them and they become fat. Take care too much they say you never give them freedom. The good balance is difficult to strike.
For Singapore's younger generation, parenthood is quite a fearful thing. Unless you tiao kia, you won't wanna be a parent until maybe at least 30. Perhaps it's due to how our parents brought us up, provided with the ongoing developing of Singapore, it creates a different form of generation.
If I may say, had our parents been borned in the X generation (1950 - 1970), we will be the Y generation (1970 - 1990). Assume every 20 years a new generation is born, Generation Z will be those borned in 1990 - 2010. Each Generation will be a whole different concept, because every generation creates a different feel, opinion, environment. Nowadays the kids that older bunch of Generation Z sees aren't too bad, Ah Bengs and Ah Lians have elevated to a status of attractiveness and kids are somewhat more educated and well-mannered, and knows more about how to think about for themselves. In otherwords, streetsmart, because that's how Generation Y raised their kids to be. But our parents, the Generation X, didn't taught us that way. They taught the very used and outdated formula (nonetheless still an effective one), study and don't ask question.
It doesn't get very productive until when we Generation Ys manage to carve our own route out thanks to the changing society and environment. No thanks to the fact that most kids that we see, are brats who points middle finger to you if you don't give him eat macdonalds or force them to talk in chinese.
And add to that, Singaporean kids, when compared to other kids like Japan, USA, Europe... we are seriously not cute. Go to Kinokuniya branch in Takashimaya and camp there for a day. Listen to how cute the Japanese kids are there, then listen to the Singapore kids in the streets. See how big the difference. I tell you it's bigger than a shoopuf.
Problems of Genes, seriously. Chinese kids are never meant to be cute. But when we all grow up, it's another matter. :/
I'm pretty sure every god-darned mother borned Singapore will know the few very obvious reasons to why Singapore don't have kids. Money and time ma.
However, take aside the problem of money, you'll realise that even if you have money, you still won't wanna produce more kids. At most 2 or 3. To Takahina, the main problem with money aside, is society itself, how we think, and how we treat this issue. You see poorer countries, they are still producing much more babies than Singapore, so money may not be the problem after all.
Singapore itself, isn't a happy country is our 5th factor. We live in a country so hot and humid we can sweat our crap off our ass while we take a dump, much less say get a baby. If we wanna get a baby, it must be in a very cool room. No air-con no baby.
I'll like to attribute the fact that, why Singapore itself isn't a happy country, to its essential factor of how Singapore managed to survive. In just a span of decades, Singapore has become so successful it should be noted in the world records. Our government had vision, we see the needs of industrialization, the needs of investments, the needs of economy. However, like any trade-off, this created a negligence in our systems more to our hearts like freedom to do what we want, act as we want, perform as we want, etc etc. We came with the whole systematic way of life of education to career, we came with the whole systematic way of realistic and pragmatic thinking, it makes us ignores things which we want in our life.
Yet if we didn't do this tradeoff, Singapore won't be so successful. Takahina won't be writing this in his aircon room right now, and you won't be able to read this on your broadband which poorer countries don't have at all.
The thing is that this is the root to our problems. This is the root which gave rise to any other problems we have and this root, is unavoidable for our success. The root of Singapore itself.
Singaporeans are unhappy. And we have a survey that was conducted last year which had Singaporeans being the 2nd last on the ranking for happiest people in the world to prove it.
Seriously.
The fact that so many young guys dread and hate going to NS and thinking about defending our country is a sign. The fact that so many families are thinking of emigrating is a sign. The fact that everyone is cursing about the weather is a sign.
The lucky thing is that more and more freedom, more highways of information are being flown to and fro in Singapore, more globalisation is happening. The situation can only hope to improve as time goes by.
Birth rates, is just one of the many major problems we face.
Mdm Lim of AWARE and the various PAP members and netizens, no need to be so affixed to this problem, ok? Discussions are fine, but don't let it escalate to another EGM or a Good Friday Celebration at City Harvest Church. We have foreigners coming in to take over our rice bowls while we take their rice bowls instead. Problem solved. :)
Suikoden 2: Reminiscence
This song is from one of my most favourite RPG ever played. And it has a very sad touch to the tone to enhance a game, and very few games have such brilliant sounds. For a game produced in the 90s, this song is a gem.
Ben, play this and I'll love you deep deep.
The Examing Takahina
In the wake of the recent exams, I'm pretty sure people from my course will have some complains and things to talk about it. Well, Takahina sure have opinions about the latest exam he had.
I'm pretty sure most people with the adequate education will feel a similar notion as me,
"I like to read and study history, but I don't like to do history exams."
Why?
Because history exams, the standard thought which we will have is that it'll be filled with dates, locations, and facts which had to be memorised in detail. So it's kinda like you have to know when Hitler actually started the genocide, when did Singapore started their independence, and how did Singapore became known as "Singa-pura" and not "Babi-pura".
Because I'm pretty sure there's no lion in Singapore at that point of time, but wild boars very likely.
wild boar Pictures, Images and Photos
I'm a fuking lion!!
So the concept is straightforward, admit it, we don't like exams that require as to memorise diehard information unless we REALLY need it. As least, I DON'T LIKE IT.
Take it that such things, which can be taken off wikipedia, are known to be as factual examinations.
In the recent exam of financial planning, I found that paper rather difficult. Why? Because I... seriously... SERIOUSLY dislike memorising facts. So for the test, I had to memorise like CPF system, not what it does, but like percentages of interest etc.
Erm... you can like get the main picture from a simple picture in CPF in which even Aunties and Unkers like me can understand?
Photobucket
Because CPF knows the typical Aunties like Serene, and typical Unkers like Desmond won't understand words and difficult stuff, so it's done in a very Malay-ish type of picture.
Kinda portrays what they CPF board thinks about Malays. :P They only know how to shower their flower. :p
Photobucket
While cute Chinese girls introduce the products... :D
The bitching I have is that, what is the use and practicality of an examination, if what it does, is ask you to recite such factual answers, and not ask the use of it? I won't mind if the question goes...
1a) What is the interest rate of the OA of a CPF account?
b) From this interest rate, will it be wiser to top-up your CPF account, or to invest it elsewhere? State reasons why.
See? A professional question from Takahina. Sure to make students wanna long pia their head one konfirm.
Instead of asking a question like:
1) What is the interest rate of the SA of the CPF.
Full-stop.
WTF? You expect me to answer this question?... Ok I answer. After I answered, I check the points allocated.
A fucking 2 points.
When I did such a question in the exams, my head was cracking...
IS THIS A FUCKING TRICK QUESTION??? ARE THERE ANYTHING ELSE I HAVE TO ANSWER?!?!
Either it's me, or it's the JC effect that every question has to be answered in an essay form. But I believe, super kiasu aunties whose name goes with the initial SY, will write a whole page essay out of even 1 mark.
And well, Takahina wrote this, for the 2 points.
"The interest rate for the Ordinary Account is 3.5% for the first $20000, and the following 2.5%."
Some people I heard... wrote.
"2.5%"
So you get 1 point for writing "2", and ".5" for the other mark? Groovy.
The gist is that, what is the point, for asking such question, when in real life you could just check the internet and get answers out of it? I understand if the paper is a very specific paper like "CPF paper", or "GST Paper". But no, it's financial planning, surely the setter can do better. Plus it's at a Uni level.
To be frank I was taken aback a bit. Econs paper and Law paper is fine, since the questions are very applicable and requires less or no recitation, but the finance and marketing papers are somewhat hilarious. I'm not saying the paper is easy, but the paper has questions which I hadn't expect at all. Asking the specific date on when do people submit their income tax is not what I expected.
Well, kinda my fault too since I pick questions.
So I wanna ask, what's the point, in giving exams whereby it's just recitation? I loved the law paper, even though it's the toughest one I had among the 4 papers. Because it's relevant, and made me think.
Exam paper should question on skills, application, usages to real life, or maybe relevant information vital to the exam which the one studying MUST KNOW about, like relevant information in the industry itself and not readily available to people of the public. CPF is certainly easily obtainable. I mean even Aunties know about it... I have a feeling my father knows more about it than me too.
ZOMG, I fucking fail.
And how about the foreign students? You think they give a shit about CPF, Australia has their own superannuation which Singapore students could give less than a piece of crap about, you think China students wanna care about CPF? Unless they wanna stayover in this saturated land, as compared to China...
I'm not saying all the papers epik fail overall, but just wanna question, is there a need for factual questions? And if so, why?
And also, is there a need for every subject to have a theory paper?
If there is a UOT (University of Takahina), subjects like marketing will be based on practicality, and application of skills into the field. And have like a small paper with minor percentage onto the theory part of it. Because not all subjects are like maths, in which you can knock yourself out trying to do out the questions.
Some subjects/modules, are very practical. I'm not saying that exams no need theory, but the weightage should differ.
I still remember in last sem there is this customer service module.
Rant no.1: FIRE THE FUCKING LECTURE PETER KIDNEYSTONE!
Rant no.2: YOU BASE OUR ROLE-PLAYING ACT, ON THE CONTENT WE PRESENT, NOT ON HOW GOOD WE ACT ON STAGE! YOU THINK WHAT, WE IN ACTING COURSE AR?!
Rant no.3: You fucking fail me, you fucking fail lecturer. The worse ever man, even worse than my boss who speaks incoherent english due to her being malay.
If I was the lecturer, I would have based a higher percentage of the role-playing side, because it's an actual application on how we should face our customers. But, nope, the main percentage is on theory (naturally >_>), whereby question like...
"When you face an angry customer, what should you do?"
If I was an Ah Beng I will fucking punch the customer in his fuck face.
But no, I'm a cultured Beng, so I said,
"I will smile and try to calm him down, listening to his complains and try to solve the situation. In the meantime take out some goodies like water, biscuits, and maybe vouchers to please him."
Yeah! So I write this, and I pass! I have a diploma in customer service. Well, then in real life I'll be either a fucking beng a punch the customer's lips off his face, or be an auntie and serve tons of water and biscuits.
The thing is that examinations rigid us. The standard education route has always been that the last theory paper will be the one most looked at, for most if not all subjects. That is the thing which needs a change. Just simply, it's not logical to base certain subjects on just theory itself.
Most subjects now, throw a high percentage of around 50% for final paper. Do we need that high?
I know people who can write damn well on paper in Japanese, but when you talk to them, they are totally... TOTALLY blur. So in the end? Do they even know Japanese? Tell them to go to Japan after getting a JLPT 3, will they even converse or try to converse in Japanese with the locals? You lack confidence in general conversation, and all you can do is write Japanese.
To me, that is not knowing the language at all. That is you learn how to write symbols of another country's. That's all.
But, if the weightage for... maybe oral for example is much higher, let's say 40% even, I'm pretty sure people learning the language will converse more in it, to improve more in it, to gain more confidence, and thus so when you get to a real life case, you CAN converse normally, be it sub-standard as compared to the locals, but at least you understand them, they understand you.
Language learned.
Summarise up the whole post, examiners please don't be dead and just simply make a "theory" paper the most important part of the subject, just because it's THEORY. Use the brain a bit, and think of what is more "crucial" in what you hope the student can take home with.
Secondly, Peter Hardstone you suck. Seriously. Takahina is a better lecturer than you, take my words man. I don't care if another Pikachu incident happen, you just SUCK. _l_
Song Recommendation:
Capsule - Love or Lies
I have meant to intro this song since a long time ago, but I kept forgetting about it.
By Capsule, the man behind Perfume's songs. This song has been out for a while now, and from my knowledge it's the theme for the Liar Game SP.
The groove is quite catchy, and has a more adult feel to it as compared to that of Perfume. Standard Capsule stuff, although I like this more, because it's catchy.
The lyrics needs a bit of digesting, but look more into it, it's somewhat similar to that of a "clubbing mood", the "love" you make in a club, is it love? Or just a deception.
The Post Exams Takahina
What do you do when you have like 2 freaking months of holiday, meaning 2 months of zhuo bo ness?
Takahina has plans. Heh heh heh heh...
Hokay, last time, I would be looking for job online like no one's business. Like really looking, but since now I'm working permanent full time at TNT (really Tons N Tons of work), job business is settled. Now, I'll be looking into ...
Blanka Pictures, Images and Photos
Blanka can charge up the whole of Singapore. :)
1. Play Games (Beware... the following is full of technical and otaku terms)
Yeah, although I've played tons of games even during the exam period, which made Kasumi and a few others go into disbelief, I've still been playing. Although I haven't really touched FFXII (all final fantasy will take ages to complete believe me) during this time, I have been playing mostly 2 games on the computer.
Photobucket
Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike on the PC. I've been using an Arcade Emulator to play it, and have been training how to use this Za Bor with her Sucker Punch Ulti.
So to use her combo, it just involves:
Dash Forward Attack (quarter circle forward + punch)
+ Cancel...
Chokehold (semi circle back + kick)
+ cancel...
hard punch
+ cancel...
dash forward attack AGAIN.
+ cancel...
....
So essentially as long as you can keep the choking and cancelling up, you're freaking buffed, and needs to be nerfed. Plus she hits so hard, 2-3 chains of the combo and Akuma will become Akumat; stunned and in need of relaxing in a korna.
Besides, after a choke, you can follow up with the Sucker Punch Ulti and make the opponent fly.
Huatness.
Seriously, no one gets away from a Sucker Punch.
And in view that she's in SFIV, something which I'm greatly pleased to see, I'm more determined to make her my mine character.
Bye Akumat, you can continue to Roll On Floor Laughing Helicopter.
...................
Another game which I have been trying is Dota, since it's the next most readily available game that connects online I have other than Audition. Anyways, my Audition can't start ever since the new update... so poopy shit to that.
.A, i haven't been using any new characters or seeing anything new, mostly is still the same game play and characters. However, I have been training a bit to enhance my vulnerability in the game.
.........................
2. Exercise
Seriously, the notion of sleeping, waking, playing a bit of game, studying, working, eating, studying, sleeping, is not healthy at all.
It makes you fat. FUCKING FAT. FF.
I've grown in size and seizures when I see myself in the mirror, hence as usual from every holiday period, I'll create exercise regimes. (Tian Wei said he'll make up one for me as well. :D) Not that previously I didn't have any, but this time I'll put in more variety to it, so as to not make it boring. I get bored with exercise and the same routine easily.
Hmmmm, ok other than that... I don't really have much else planned. :/
...
Isn't this like... what I do everyday?? Well yeah almost, just more intensive!~!
Ok, so you see the thing is that the past exams and holidays, Takahina has no job, but this time Takahina has a usual JOB~~
So, the usual Takahina's timetable will be:
1200 - 1700: Play game and exercise, just do whatever I wanna do.
1700 - 1800: Prepare for work
1800 - 0000: Work
0000 - 0500: Play game and doing whatever I want. Unlike in the past, I lost the momentum to exercise at night anymore.
0500 - 1200: Sleep... The minimum 6hrs I need if not I'll day early, as quoted by scientists.
- Any events arranged by people or task which I'll need to clear will be settled within the 1200 - 1700 timing. Like "I PEEEE Maaannnn 2" movie today with Ben, settled at 1450 timing. Just nice.
Just thinking though, he bashed up the Japanese (日本鬼子) in part 1, and gave the English Boxer (臭洋鬼子) a good face makeover. In part 3 he's gonna kick some Tom Yam Goong ass?
Muay Thai Kick Pictures, Images and Photos
"Watch out Ip Man, if you laugh, you'll get out and kenna a Thai kick..." - Gaki No Tsukai's quote.
Or Bitch slap a korean good?
wow!!!!!!! Pictures, Images and Photos
"Give them all a good bitch slap, and their noses will all fall off. And look at the last freaking joker in the bottom right, it's like they have no more $$ for surgery and no choice add him in to fill up the number."
Anyways, for the time being, Takahina, is freaking free. Well, except for the evening to night time when he's working. Weekends, other than Sunday's Japanese lesson, I have nothing on.
Looking though, the only major event is...
11th May:
My Brother is going to the ROM for their marriage! It's official guys. Takahina will have a sister in law from Thailand... and she is a female, not a she-male >_>
Feel free to make reservations with Takahina to ask him out! He's a very lonely guy in need of companionship. But remember to book him for at least 1 week before if you want his evening time, so he can arrange a leave or MC if it comes down to that for him to get his off.
Photobucket
Grats to them!! :D
Random Post for the 3rd week straight
Like seriously exams are jamming my thoughts. The brilliant Takahinian thoughts. Even if I have something I wanna write out, I don't feel like writing them because once I start writing, I can't stop until like 2 hours later.
And that means 2 hours shortage of studying.
Even though Takahina is somewhat sick now, his brain still can actively move, must be the constant late nights which rendered my usually stoic and buffed body to go collapse at the mere sight of unassuming virus.
Bowels are loose and crisp, imagine when passing motion, it's like peeing. Skipping today's Japanese class including mid-term test due to being sick, having no confidence in it at all, and school exams starting tomorrow.
FML.
Anyways, don't really care I'm still eating like there's no tomorrow, just had some Fish Fillet which my brother can't finish.
Yesterday went out a bit for Haze's birthday at Party World. Damn nice place, especially the Tamborines. It's new, it's usable, and it won't be cheap if I buy it anywhere else. Damn. Should have stole it. Also my voice hurts now for screaming too much Tibetian Wail in Ashita e no Sanka by Alan. I'm pretty sure Edwin will post it up in FB soon. My unglam moments.
Also, since it's a "band" celebration, we kinda discussed for the oncoming Streetfest and to perform for it. Got kinda excited and heated up.
Look forward to it. :)
It will be different... not really done before by other bands and probably we'll be a precedent for this year's Stfest... well, if we do get our act up. :?
Tomorrow's the start of my exams. 勉強しなければいけません。
Random Post
Once again, due to exam fevers in SIM. Takahina won't be making a proper post anywhile nor will he be likely to go out too often.
Maybe only for Japanese class every Sunday or major events.
Somehow looking through how other university students study, they seem to have that inertia to keep on studying, while Takahina only has the inertia to move forward physically and can't stop. (F=ma)
In any case, exams will start next week. I'll have to go to school and verify on my ICT deferment and the possibility of it. Obviously...
EMAILING THE SCHOOL HAS NO USE, WHAT'S THE USE OF PROVIDING A EMAIL SERVICE WHEN YOU DON'T REPLY AT ALL~~~~!!
Also, school is starting on the 5th July, in case those in SIM RMIT doesn't know.
And also, the exams timings are not out yet. Only the shitty dates but no timing. Someone screw SIM RMIT department for me please. For all I know the exams may have started but no one knows about it, and in the end everyone become like OMG cat.
Not that Takahina can't study... but for some reason, he can't settle his heart down to outrightly study properly.
Blame the computer and his work. Blame everything cept for himself man. :D
K, whatever. Study study study...
Random Post
Not posting anything this week and next week due to the exams coming. I do have themes in my end though.
A few updates:
- I tio reservice and I realised that it'll clash with my classes. Will need to apply for deferment. FML.
- Exams are coming by next week so will be busy. Can't afford to spend time really blogging properly among my mixed time table >.< Going out is fine but nothing major I guess to not mess with my studying time >.<
- My uncle needs a part time waiter to help him in his restaurant. Flexible hours and only local citizens. Able to commit for 6 months. I would help if I don't already have my current job :/
Tts all folks :/
The Blogging Takahina
I bet most of you have already seen the new banner done up by my dear Bang, Shion Wah. He's simply pro seriously.
And the pic of me having a son kidnapped? That's him too.
Photobucket
AH HUAT ARRRRRRRRRRRR~~~~~
You know how it happened? 1 day I just mentioned to my dear Shion while we're standing in Plaza Singapura near the GV entrance,
Takahina, "Eh, bang."
Shion, "Yeah?"
Takahina, "You see the poster over there?"
Shion, "Yeah."
Takahina, "Can you imagine my face there?"
Shion, "Yeah."
Takahina, "Are you able to photoshop my face there?"
Shion, "No need photoshop, use Windows Paint can le."
Huatness.
The next thing I know, by the time I next checked, without even passing any photos to him, I have became... the kidnapper.
O_O
Takahina, "Shion."
Shion, "Yeah?"
Takahina, "You go where find the picture de?"
Shion, "You forgot I'm the best Cybastalka in Singapore, and some say in Ipoh?"
Indeed. So those from Singapore and Ipoh, be careful.
Anyways, I changed the blog's banner for a few reasons.
First, I saw Shion having a change in his blog's banner as well. That sparked my first thought that, "hey I should have a change in my banner too!" It's not that I don't like Takako sama and Love Hina anymore, just that for now, my favouritism has been shifted more towards Perfume and Alan. So the banner was outdated.
So with a bit of research for nice pics, and some discussing with my Cybastalka, this banner came out. Nice right. :D
Second reason, because April is kinda the "anniversary" for my first blogging escapade.
Most of you people won't know, but Takahina first started blogging in secondary start, partly influenced by Benji the nub. Didn't write a lot at that time, neither did I really advertised the blog. Just wrote nonsense there and got more and more vulgar eventually. And I started it, in April. Exact day I forgot, but yeah I know it's april, cause it was after my birthday.
So the Takahina's blogging history is as below...
Secondary School:
- Virgin attempt at blogging. (1st blog)
- Got more and more vulgar
- Changed blog address to write even more vulgarly. I don't remember it's name though, but confirmed something to do with Takahina. (2nd blog)
- Had another blog to write about his reviews (3rd blog). But it wasn't continued regularly. The blog still exist, but not updated till date.
- Had a private blog using the Code of Ninjas (4th blog)
JC:
- The 2nd blog got flamed thanks to a Pikachu, Ben and some of those whom were with me in IJC for the first 3 months will know about it. Closed it, for the sake of my future. Fucked up pikachu.
- Created Crapper, to enhance the hatred in me towards the whole wide world. Also partly due to my angry nature. So as the name suggested, it's a hate blog towards the world. Crap. (5th blog)
- Crapper got flamed naturally. Closed down blog. What was I thinking anyways.
- Switched to The True Takahina (6th blog)
- TTT lasted quite well, and was my somewhat most "successful" blog. Mainly thanks to how I frequently suanned the hedgehog douchebag Audric. :p
- Close down the private blog cause it was discovered. Kinda dumb reason though.
NS:
- Got into livejournal through Kieku's introduction
- Switched blog and left TTT, but didn't delete it due to it's success and somehow "predicting" I'll get back. (7th blog)
- Motivation to write seriously dropped mainly due to left of education to keep my brain moving.
- Had an argument in LJ, thus dropped LJ and switched back to Blogger. Blogger is simpler anyways. Easier to control, although privacy control is much lesser than LJ's.
- Created another unpromoted blog, but with the intention for those who had the "heart" to go look, to find it. Since it could be found easily. And for those who asked, I got the add too from me. (8th blog)
Presently:
- Returned to the most "advertised" blog The True Takahina, and made the unpromoted blog private to myself. Only to be disclosed when I die or something.
- Still writing here... as the boastful Takahina.
Thus so, this is the so-called history of my blogging life. To be frank TTT was shaped after Xiaxue when she was somewhat the craze. Eventually she became much rather a sell out due to her acting bimbo, so I didn't follow her.
So in total, out of 7 blogs, I deleted 5. Please remember this for in the future when I come out with another quiz like "How well do you know Takahina?" Such questions will be in.
The thing people should note in writing a blog, well for me anyways, is to know how you want the blog to go.
A few of the blogs I had didn't know how to progress and hence it broke down. Some of my "private" blogs weren't really private, making people able to access it, which is like a kick to my own ass, if I had wanted it private, I better make it private. And seriously, blogging requires commitment. If you want a weekly post, you better make sure you have a weekly post. Like a manga artist, they submit weekly to Shounen Jump and I have no idea how in the blue hell they can manage to keep up. You see, I made TTT to be a weekly post and I'm slacking in the moon already.
My review blog is going nowhere, and it's wasting internet space.
1 more thing, flame/hate blogs, go nowhere. Seriously, THEY GO NOWHERE. Just the mental strength you will spend in arguing with others can make you lose weight. Seriously. At least non serious and joke blogs, can attract attention and can go on indefinitely, but the constant need to come out with stupid stuff like Bui Kia Si Ang Moh requires tons of subtle inspiration. Hush Hush my honey...
If your blog is a shop. You better make it A SHOP, not a parliament. If not imagine customers going into the shop, with the shop owner scolding other people, you see liao you will think you're at Taiwan seriously.
Next question people may ask is why I put in Matsu Takako and Love Hina in the first place for my previous banner. Well, it's cause Takahina is made up TAKAko and love HINA.
Den I figured, it won't be fair if I only had those 2 in since I now like Alan and Perfume more... so I need to SPREAD DA LUV!!~~~
<3
Anyways, Alan looks too imbar cute in this pic, while Love Hina looks like Hentai Hina.
..................................................................................
Fushizen na Girl - Perfume
Since Perfume just got inducted into my banner, I figured it'll be nice to feature them and their new single.
I love this new single, brings back the feel of Perfume in their "Game" era, similar to their older songs like Twinkle Snow, Powdery Snow. And Nocchi is effing hot in the mv. Seriously.
For the live version... this check out this:
Fushizen na Girl MJ live
And...
You gotta love some dragon action...
Random Thoughts
Ok if you're wondering why I have not been posting at all...
It's all thanks for Final Fantasy 12. I want to at least clear FF12 by this year, and that means I have to bloody chiong. Only by so then can I be in time for FF13... So if you wanna blame...
Blame SquareEnix for producing RPGs.
Then again... if there's no SquareEnix, I'll be playing something else like Dynasty Warriors or Street Fighter. :/
PS2, PS3. <3 you.
The Travelling Expensively Takahina
Just to let you peeps know, Takahina has got a new bicycle!!! Costing around $175 along with a chain lock and 2 keys. Bells and Honks each sold separately.
Photobucket
Yes I camwhored with my bike... YOU GOT A PROBLEM!?!?!?!?!?!?!
You may ask why did I suddenly buy a bicycle? Well the answer is simple, work.
I thought to myself 1 day as I was working through my financial accounting for this month and I come to realise that I'm allocating like 1/4 of my monthly pay to transport and LTA, mainly thanks to the fact my school is like in Clementi while I live in Tampines. Presumably I travel everyday to school, to and fro, via MRT. Den I go to work, in bus, to and fro.
My transport fees, and possibly most other university students who aren't Wu Lui Kia and dun have a car and don't have a driving license, hits to $120.
I allocate $120 to my transport in a month. Thinking of it, it's quite normal.
FUCK U IT ISN'T.
LTA belongs to PAP which means Pay And Pay, so I can kinda see the trend. So LTA, which stands for Leeching Travelers' Assets, will do comparatively the same thing. When I was in Primary school, travelling to Paya Lebar to my Grandpa's house is like $1.20. Now it's $1.40 + that $1 for the card thingy.
But then, you guys may not know, that card thingy, is a trick.
You see the foreigners/people who don't sit transport regularly/APNN (Ah Pu Ne Ne), it's meant to leech their $1 for them not knowing that you can get that $1 back. Why for all you know some foreigners here on holiday may take the card and keep it like it's some freaking present.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
So you can see, all those things asking you to pay $1 for the card and blah blah blah, like a lot of arcades/food courts are doing now, is a scheme. For all you know 1 day one of Singapore's souvenirs to tourists, are SMART-cards.
My Econs teacher said that Singapore has never experienced a deflation before, so to many Singaporeans, there's no such thing as deflation at all. Even if property prices fall, or COEs prices fall, people won't view that as deflation, but rather...
"Oh it's a speculative Drop in prices, better buy now for it'll INFLATE in the future."
Oil prices up-ed in prices during the oil crisis, so public transport prices up.
Leeching Traveller's Asses said, "Bo pian, we have to up price. People, you wanna continue sitting MRT, imma let you know you gotta pay more. If not, the only people you'll see taking over our MRTs are the APNN on Sundays, China students who can't get used to our comparatively MUCH MUCH MORE polite driving in Singapore and politicians that wanna show support to US!
So, make your choice. Either you rich dudes and tai tais can take your Toyota Corolla and risk getting into an accident due to Toyota's breaking down in the middle of the road, or you NS people try to hitch-hike a rover and risk getting confined, or take my transport hell yeah."
What to do, LLST. We still need to pay LTA for passing through like the center of Singapore due to Every Road Pay...
Photobucket
So to say if I wanna go to Orchard for some shopping, I've gotta pay like $2. Hokay...
Then for god's sake, please stop building all the nice nice and very advertised stuff in that area. I tell you it's all a conspiracy. Huatness.
Photobucket
But now oil prices dropped quite a bit compared to that time, transport fees, no doubt dropped, but somehow the effect to us people seemed very minor.
LTA, "We decreased 2cents off your daily bus road trips thanks to the drop in oil prices. Halleluya."
Yes, and the increase in prices is like almost 10cents... well almost.
And now I heard they may wanna take away long bus routes.
*_*.
Why? Frankly I'll be very sad if they take away buses like 168 and 27. Imagine now traveling via MRT from Tampines to City Hall, then changing to Red line to Woodlands. I can flow down PIE from east to west in a taxi or Tian Wei's car when he's serious TWICE!
Photobucket
Look at me. I'm Serious.
I'm looking forward to the circle line frankly speaking. Opens more faster routes for me, since I can change at Paya Lebar. But I can't help but think of the possibilities, den I saw a possible outcome of the future MRT.
Behold, MRT in Singapore 2050.
Photobucket
Kudos to you Jason Chua, this is a piece of art. Value Added by Takahina...
...............................................................................
Since we're on the topic of travelling... here is a brilliant song you can listening while traveling.
Utada Hikaru - Traveling
It's live. And well, let's just hope she isn't as big sized now as before :/
PS: I know I have no rights to say others... but seriously, I'm Takahina, I don't give a damn.
